Acrylic Painting

Students are introduced to building texture and surfaces, extending color, and creating opaque and transparent effects. Experimentation and risk-taking is encouraged, enabling students to create a finished panel or canvas piece of their own imagination.

Oil Painting

  This introduction to oil painting provides students with an opportunity to explore and understand this challenging medium. Students become familiar with oil painting through a variety of assignments that highlight color, surface, space, volume composition.

Mixed Media Drawing & Painting

  This exploratory multi-media class encourages the student to discover one's process through the transition from drawing into painting. We will start by drawing from observation and quickly move into using layers of paper, paint and various collected materials. Subject matter may change from representation into abstraction. One will be guided to find one's individual "voice" and to be courageous in use of new materials and process.

Architectural Drawing and Modeling

  This course enables students to explore both the conceptual and practical realms of architecture through a series of studio projects, with supporting lecture content. Discussions focus on how experience, culture and aesthetics influence the field of architectural design, while studio projects develop a creative design process through drawing and model making. Individuals with or without design experience are welcome, as projects are suitable to each student’s background.

Still Life Drawing

Students will develop ability to view and draw objects with proper perspectives, outline, shape, and proportions; students will learn about form and composition. Explore tone and shading, and practice techniques to build drawings up to three-dimensional forms.
